    Adam Search Group has partnered with a client of theirs in Pennsylvania to help with the hiring of individuals for their project team as they are working in conjunction with the Major Bridges P3 Initiative which is part of the PennDOT Pathways Program helping with the rehabilitation of major bridges in Pennsylvania.

    We are looking to hire a Junior Accountant / Accounts Payable Specialist for our Philadelphia PA location. Please note that we are looking for someone who has worked in or for a construction-related company.  

    The Junior Accountant will focus on accounts payable – managing, processing and, in general, owning this process. The Junior Accountant will also assist in the completion of various clerical duties within the month-end close and financial reporting process.

    What they are looking for you to do:

    • Initiate requests for new vendor/subcontractor entry into the accounting system.
    • Entry of all invoices/payment requests into an automated workflow process.
    • Verifying vendor accounts, paying vendors, and resolving purchase orders, invoices, or payment discrepancies.
    • Charging expenses to accounts and cost centers and control expenses.
    • Reconciling account transactions with the general ledger
    • Compiling, analyzing, and preparing accurate financial reports
    • Keeping informed of regulatory requirements and best practices in accounting
    • Assisting senior accountant and controller in the decision-making process by preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Independently track and secure proper approvals prior to timely invoice payment.
    • Provide a list of proposed weekly payments.
    • Process payments, both prescheduled and immediate, as required.
    • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
    • Update accounts receivable and issue invoices.
    • Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations.
    • Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.
    • Assist with reviewing expenses, payroll records, etc., as assigned.
    • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.
    • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports.
    • Assist senior accountant in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
    • Collect information needed to prepare sales and use tax filings, government surveys and reporting, and other statutory obligations.
    • Assist with special projects on an as-needed basis.

    What they are looking for:

    • Bachelor's or similar degree in accounting, finance, or related.
    • At least 2 years experience in an accounting type of role.
    • In-depth knowledge of accounts payable principles, accounting standards, and industry regulations.
    • Extensive experience in account reconciliation.
    • Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills. Experience with Vista is a plus.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Great time management and organizational skills.
    • Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
    • Available to travel as needed
