Adaptive Certified Fitness Trainer
Pay: $26–$35/hour Schedule: Part-time or full-time | Flexible based on availability and business needs Hours: Monday–Saturday, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM

Special Strong Greater South Riverside is looking for an Adaptive Certified Fitness Trainer to provide individualized fitness training for people with developmental and physical disabilities.

What You’ll Do
Lead safe, engaging individual and small-group adaptive fitness sessions
Follow participant goals and individualized training plans
Track attendance, progress, and required session documentation
Communicate with supervisors and participant support teams
Complete occasional case-management and administrative duties
Use scheduling, documentation, and communication apps
Follow all safety, incident-reporting, and mandated-reporting requirements
Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
Most work is performed in person at gyms and community locations. Some administrative or case-management tasks may be completed remotely when appropriate.
What You Need
NCCA-accredited Personal Trainer Certification (NASM, ACE, ACSM, ISSA, or qualifying equivalent)
Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to learn required software/apps
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in reasonable temperature variations
Reliable transportation between service locations
Preferred: Experience working with individuals with developmental or physical disabilities and/or education in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field.
Availability
Trainers provide their availability, and schedules are built around participant needs, business needs, and trainer availability.
Candidates should have at least 15 hours of reasonable weekly availability within our service hours. Availability does not guarantee a specific number of paid hours.
Adaptive Certification & Hiring Process
Selected candidates will be invited to complete the Special Strong Adaptive Training Certification before final employment.

Self-paced and online
No cost to the candidate
The certification becomes yours once earned
You are not on payroll while completing the initial certification
Completing the certification does not guarantee employment
Candidates must make reasonable progress; excessive delay may result in withdrawal from consideration
Final employment is contingent upon completing the certification and successfully passing required DOJ/FBI Live Scan fingerprint and background clearance.
Additional Requirements
This is a non-exempt, hourly, at-will position and includes a 90-day introductory period.
The position is a mandated reporter under California law. Required reporting, safety, and Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) training will be provided.
