Compensation: $800 per AS Degree Asynchronous Pathway course, per Exhibit B of the institutional Adjunct Faculty Instructor Agreement. Compensation for additional or specialized courses may vary by category.

Theoria Technical College is a small, mission-driven private postsecondary institution located in Carlsbad, California. The College is approved to operate by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) and holds Candidacy status with the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), granted February 3, 2026. Theoria delivers instruction through a hybrid online model designed to serve adult learners and career-focused students.
Position Summary
Theoria Technical College seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach college-level Mathematics within our Associate of Science pathway and general education offerings. The instructor will deliver MTH 101 (College Mathematics) and potentially additional Math courses, in an asynchronous online format with substantive instructor engagement throughout each term. This is a course-by-course engagement; continuing assignment is contingent on instructional performance, enrollment, and program needs.
Responsibilities
· Deliver assigned Mathematics courses in accordance with the approved course outline, learning outcomes, and institutional academic policies.
· Maintain an active, consistent instructional presence in the Learning Management System throughout each term.
· Provide Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) with students, including timely feedback, participation in academic discussions, instructional announcements, clarification of course material, and proactive outreach regarding student progress.
· Grade assignments and provide substantive feedback within the institutional turnaround standard (10 calendar days unless an extension is communicated in advance).
· Maintain accurate academic records, attendance, gradebook, and final grade submission in the institutional Student Information System (Orbund).
· Check institutional email no fewer than twice per week.
· Participate in instructional evaluations, periodic observations, and required professional development.
· Comply with all institutional policies and applicable accreditation standards (ACCJC, ACCET, BPPE).
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet at least one of the following pathways under the institution's Faculty Minimum Qualifications by Discipline matrix:
· Master's degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, OR
· Master's degree in Statistics, Engineering, or a Physical Science, plus eighteen (18) graduate semester units in Mathematics (documented on official transcripts).
Authorization to work in the United States is required. The institution will independently verify all academic credentials under AOP 7.1.7 (Faculty Credential Verification and Qualification Determination Procedure) prior to engagement, including registrar-verified transcripts and, where applicable, NACES evaluation for foreign academic credentials.
Preferred Qualifications
· Prior experience teaching college-level Mathematics in an online or hybrid online environment.
· Familiarity with adult learners and career-focused student populations.
· Experience with Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Brightspace, or comparable).
· Demonstrated ability to deliver clear, accessible instruction in quantitative reasoning at the introductory college level.
· Familiarity with Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) standards for distance education under federal Title IV regulations.
Conditions of Engagement
Engagement is contingent on successful completion of the institution's pre-engagement requirements, including:
· Approval of the Faculty Credential Verification Form through Section VII (institutional approval) per AOP 7.1.7.
· Signed acknowledgment of the Theoria Technical College Faculty Handbook.
· Completion of required institutional training: Adjunct Orientation, Institutional Policy and FERPA, Accreditation Responsibilities, Student Learning Outcomes, Technology and Learning Management System Training, and the Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) module.
· Completion of Title IX, anti-harassment, and (where applicable) mandated reporter training.
· Submission of all required tax and onboarding documentation.
