Adjunct Instructor Biological Anthropology Instructor
GE Area: Area A — Natural Sciences
Modality: Asynchronous online via Orbund LMS, with Regular and Substantive
Interaction (RSI)
Minimum Qualifications
Per California Title 5 §53410 and ACCJC Standard III.A:
• Master's degree in Anthropology (Biological/Physical concentration preferred), OR
• Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or related Life Science with
documented graduate coursework in Biological/Physical Anthropology, OR
• Equivalent qualifications as approved through TTC's faculty equivalency process
Preferred Qualifications
• PhD in Biological Anthropology, Human Evolution, Primatology, or related field
• Teaching experience at the community college or university level
• Online teaching experience (asynchronous, Adobe Connect, or LMS-based)
• Familiarity with C-ID descriptors (specifically C-ID ANTH 110)
• Experience designing courses for accelerated 5-week formats
Primary Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain the ANTH-101 Biological Anthropology course syllabus aligned
with C-ID ANTH 110 descriptor and Cal-GETC Area 5B
• Cover course content including: human evolution, genetics, primatology,
paleoanthropology, human osteology, forensic anthropology, and human variation
• Use Stanford, Allen, & Anton's Biological Anthropology: The Natural History of
Humankind (5th ed.) as the primary textbook (or Curriculum Committee–approved
alternative)
• Document and assess Student Learning Outcomes per ACCJC Standard II.A.4
• Teach 5-week accelerated terms multiple times per academic year
Standard Faculty Responsibilities (All Theoria Instructors)
• Maintain Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) per IPM 4.8 and 34 CFR §600.2
• Submit weekly RSI Self-Log per institutional procedure
• Document Student Learning Outcomes assessment per IPM and Curriculum Committee
schedule
• Provide timely grading and feedback (responses to student communications within 48
hours)
• Participate in faculty development and Curriculum Committee processes as assigned
• Comply with all institutional policies (IPM, FERPA, Title IX, etc.)
