Required Experience
A.A./A.S. in business or technical degree, preferred. High school diploma/GED required. Minimum 4 years of progressive facilities management or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience. Appropriate formal vocational training and/or fieldwork experience in the maintenance, mechanical, and custodial trades considered in lieu of formal education. EPA Refrigeration Certification required with at least two (2) years of formal vocational training in HVAC and 3-5 years field experience required. Experience with Chillers. Requires a valid Florida Class E driver’s license. Minimum 2 years supervisory experience required. Prefer supervisory experience in the inspection, operation, preventive maintenance, repair/replacement and restoration of building equipment and systems, including heating. Experience with ventilation and air conditioning required. Experience with electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, locksmithing, and general building maintenance. Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring and systems diagrams. Must have the ability to effectively communicate, establish, and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the University community. Practical application of recognized standards of good practice relevant to plumbing, pressure cleaning/sandblasting/painting/preservation, welding/brazing/soldering, carpentry, masonry, framing walls/drywall, roofing maintenance and all custodial services. Effective human relations and interactive management skills with a proactive customer-oriented focus. Strong attention to detail, excellent follow through; ability to manage multiple priorities; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to plan, organize and prioritize work to meet schedules and deadlines. Available at all hours for emergency service. Requires the ability to analyze situations and accurately recommend or adopt an effective course of action. High degree of good judgment and tact. Team building skills- motivates and empowers. Must be a dependable, responsible contributor committed to excellence and success. Must be knowledgeable of regulatory compliance.
