    Job Description

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This position serves as the subject matter expert in DOT and EHS and is responsible for implementing and executing environmental and safety programs that effectively lead the safety culture at Transportation. This position is responsible for providing sound leadership and management to Transportation’s safety, security, environmental and DOT programs to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and/or local DOT and Environmental, Health and Safety legislation.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    ·         Responsible for the planning and implementation of all safety policies and procedures established for the facility.

    ·         Responsible for completing job safety analysis for all positions in the facility and keeping them up to date annually.

    ·         Responsible for completing all accident investigations, reporting findings back to fleet manager and supervisors.

    ·         Coordinates with the Division Terminal Manager to maintain safety metrics and compliance training records

    ·         Coordinates with Division Terminal Manager to maintain all environmental metrics, permits and compliance records

    ·         Reviews employee training to assure safety in operation and quality compliance.

    ·         Complies with and enforces company environmental and safety programs and policies

    ·         Directs the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by eliminating hazards, training employees and contractors, and promoting safety awareness.

    ·         Coordinates with the Terminal managers on safety/loss control issues.

    ·         Actively promotes and facilitate safety meetings.

    ·         Conduct/assist new driver/OO orientation and any retraining needed for offenders of DOT regulations.

    ·         Authors, publishes, and administers e-log training program and retraining/counseling programs for drivers with out of service and other log violations that become apparent from the audit process.

    ·         Oversees the department’s drug & alcohol screening program. (DOT required program for drivers)

    ·         Safety & Risk Management Process (SRMP)

    ·         Emergency Response

    ·         Environmental Management

    ·         Lock-Out Tag-Out of power equipment

    ·         Incident Reporting / Accident Investigation

    ·         Other Ad Hoc duties

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

    ·         Must have proven experience developing and implementing EHS policies and procedures.

    ·         Strong knowledge of DOT, environmental, health and safety laws and regulations

    ·         Knowledge of safety standards for vehicles, transportation and inspection requirements.

    ·         Knowledge of vehicle service and maintenance techniques and procedures.

    ·         Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, or governmental regulations.

    ·         Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

    ·         Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public

    ·         Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    ·         Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

    ·         Basic computer skills, Word and Excel; Oracle

    ·         Experience with the Smith System (or other defensive driving systems)

    ·         Class A CDL License preferred

     

    EDUCATION:

    ·         Bachelor’s degree; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

    ·         Federal, state, and local guidelines, regulations, and programs relating to transit
