    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The FSI Terminal Supervisor is responsible for Supervising the FSI Transloading Long Beach and Wilmington terminals in adherence to all company policies and procedures in the efforts of meeting the company’s annual goals.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage daily appointments and communicate issues to Management proactively as needed
    • Establish warehouse best practices to achieve efficient warehouse protocols
    • Adjust inbound volume to accommodate daily operations as needed        
    • Monthly Physical inventory count on Sat or Sunday with Accounting
    • Report weekly forecast of inbound shipments for FSI LB & WIL to Sr Management team
    • Supervise office and yard personnel, assist in monitoring reward/incentive program
    •  Scheduling inbound appointments for Long Beach & Wilmington terminals as needed
    • Partner up with FSI Terminal Managers and FSI HR Manager to review and discuss any employee relations issues and collaboratively determine best action plan
    • Provide window coverage for Long Beach & Wilmington locations as needed
    • Assist FSI Terminal Managers to maximize capacity of facilities/terminals production
    • Place supply orders adhering to purchasing price comparison company procedure, adhering to company’s three (3) quote policy
    • Supervise staff performance and conduct continuous performance training as needed for both Long Beach & Wilmington locations
    • Collaborate with FSI Terminal Managers to achieve team production goals
    • Supervise office and yard staff to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
    •  Supervise manpower and collaboratively conduct staff planning with Terminal Managers as needed
    • Prepare for monthly inventory  
    • Review and resolve problem load as needed
    • Report and investigate safety incidents and communicate to FSI HR Manager and Terminal Managers
    • Prevent detention by supervising trucker waiting time for all inbound loads
    • Supervise import containers/chassis plus special accounts (Walmart Hawaii) to prevent detention
    • Supervise company employees and temporary associate’s hours worked to reduce overtime hours
    • Proficient thorough understanding of the overall operation and each job requirement able to fill in as needed and train new hires
    • Must follow all company policies and procedures as specified in the departmental SOP’s and in the Employee Handbook.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    • 7+ Years Supervising experience in a transloading work environment.

The Terminal Supervisor must have the ability to anticipate and make changes as needed to benefit the operation.

    Physical Demands:  While performing duties of job, incumbent is frequently required to talk and hear, sit for extended periods of time, stand for extending periods of time on the dock while forklifts or other industrial trucks/accessories, operate within proximity. Required to frequently stand, walk, stoop and climb. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to lift, pull, push, or carry objects.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment: This position requires work in a production and office environment.  The production environment has a loud noise level and requires PPE (safety vest, face mask), ambient temperatures are warmer in the summer and colder in the winter, and may have exposure to vapors, chemicals, dust, and odors. Safety Vest and Face Mask PPE are required in any production and office areas.  Other PPE may be required related to specific tasks.
