Schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Availability: Must be flexible to support a 24/7 operation, including occasional weekends and on-call availability.
The Admitting Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the hospital’s patient registration activities, including patient check-in, insurance verification, and point-of-service collections. This position ensures smooth departmental workflow, adherence to revenue cycle goals, and high-quality patient service.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise day-to-day admitting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Develop, implement, and enforce departmental policies, procedures, and service standards.
Oversee registration staff performance, provide feedback, and deliver ongoing education in collaboration with quality assurance teams.
Monitor and manage registration and billing work queues to ensure completion and accuracy within Epic or other EHR systems.
Oversee cash handling procedures and act as a liaison with Finance regarding deposits, collections, and reconciliation.
Recruit, train, and retain registration staff, including Certified Registration Specialists.
Conduct performance evaluations, new hire check-ins, and ongoing competency assessments.
Manage department scheduling, monitor overtime, and maintain staffing levels to align with budget targets.
Support process improvement and technology initiatives that enhance efficiency and patient satisfaction.
Communicate effectively with staff, leadership, and other departments to promote transparency and operational excellence.
Represent the department on committees and workgroups as needed.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in hospital registration, admissions, or revenue cycle operations.
Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare environment.
Strong understanding of registration processes, insurance verification, billing workflows, and regulatory compliance.
Experience working in an Epic or similar electronic health record system preferred.
Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
Proven ability to coach, mentor, and motivate a team toward performance goals.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification preferred.
