About the Role
We are seeking an Advanced Analyst, Guest Product (also known as Product Analyst or Product Data Scientist) to support the guest product side of the business. This person will develop insights, conduct analyses, and collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, finance, and data science teams to inform decisions across the guest product roadmap.
This is a classic product analytics role. The right person will own data requirements, measurement and success metrics, reporting, and analyses for the projects they support. They will sync regularly with product and engineering partners to align on scope and timelines, gather real-time feedback, and ensure the team is making the right decisions for the guest experience.
The ideal candidate is curious, engaged, positive, and detail-oriented, with great communication skills and the ability to translate complex analyses into clear narratives for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This person is self-driven to deliver on projects and timelines, and proactive in surfacing issues as they come up.
A Typical Day
- Sync with product and engineering partners to align on project scope, timelines, and gather real-time feedback
- Define data requirements (logging, metrics) to enable measurement and success of guest product features
- Conduct deep-dive analyses and produce clear, actionable readouts for cross-functional partners
- Design, build, and maintain a suite of self-service dashboards that empower stakeholders to monitor product and business performance
- Design and analyze experiments to measure the impact of product changes and feature launches
- Translate findings and recommendations into clear narratives for product, engineering, finance, and data science partners, as well as senior leadership
Skills
Your Expertise:
- 5 to 10 years of analytics or data science experience, with the team targeting roughly 10 years (open to 7+ years for candidates with strong marketplace experience, and to candidates with more than 10 years depending on independence and scope)
- Proven track record of conducting rigorous analyses end to end
- Must-have: Expert-level or very proficient in SQL for data analysis
- Important: Comfort and familiarity with Python
- Hands-on experience with experimentation (A/B testing and experimental design)
- Familiarity with dashboarding concepts and a clear understanding of what makes a successful dashboard. Prior experience with tools like Tableau or Power BI is a plus but not required, as the team uses internal dashboarding tooling
- Experience working on software products and product surface areas, with a strong product sense and understanding of the user experience journey
- Two-sided marketplace experience is ideal but not required. The team thinks of marketplaces as having buyers and sellers operating independently (more C2C than B2C or B2B). Experience at companies such as DoorDash, Amazon, and similar marketplace environments is relevant
- Open to data scientists who meet the requirements (Product Analyst and Product Data Scientist titles are considered interchangeable)
- Exceptional business acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to make informed judgments
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders and convey complex concepts in an accessible manner
- Self-driven on projects and timelines; proactive in surfacing issues; engaged, positive, and detail-oriented
Required:
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research) or equivalent practical experience.
Ability to work independently with stakeholders, write requirements, and solve analytical problems in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
Strong ability to serve as a liaison between business and technical teams
Excellent teamwork skills and ability to build relationships at all levels
