Advanced Manufacturing Technician / Shop Lead

Eagan, MN | Contract to Hire | $33 – $38/hour
4-day work week (Mon–Thurs, 7:00 am – 5:30 pm)

Summary

Seeking a hands-on, experienced Manufacturing Technician / Shop Lead to support production and development projects in a custom fabrication environment. This role is ideal for a confident, “lead from the front” individual who can troubleshoot issues, guide others, and help maintain workflow in a fast-paced, team-oriented shop.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily shop activities and help drive production flow to meet deadlines
• Operate and train others on shop equipment (chop saw, drill press, grinders, etc.)
• Perform hands-on assembly, fabrication support, and troubleshooting
• Assist with machine setup, maintenance, and process improvements
• Read and interpret shop prints and measurements for accurate builds
• Support final inspection, packaging, and shipment preparation
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Communicate effectively with team members and leadership on production needs

Qualifications

• Experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment
• Prior lead or supervisory experience (formal or informal)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving mindset
• Ability to work independently while supporting team dynamics
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced shop setting

Preferred Skills

• Aluminum welding experience
• Electrical wiring or basic controls experience
• Forklift experience
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.)
