Job Description

We are currently seeking UNDERWRITERS for a direct hire opportunity with a well-establish mortgage loan company. Position will be located in Charlotte, North Carolina, but company has additional openings in Denver, Colorado, Newport Beach, California and Houston, Texas. PAY FOR THE POSITION: $40.00 TO $50.00 PER HOUR, PLUS OT RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE UNDERWRITER:

• Will be responsible for underwriting conventional and government loans to ensure all appropriate guidelines are met
• Responsible for the review of credit, income, assets documentation to determine a borrower's credit worthiness and repayment ability
• Will need to review property appraisal reports to ensure value of property is accurate
• Responsible for reviewing more complex loans when required, analysis of business tax returns and calculate qualifying income
• Will manually underwrite loans, along with following AUS findings
• Able to leverage knowledge of loan products and offer alternative financing options on eligible loans if unable to approve as submitted
• Will mentor processing staff on underwriting deficiencies and calculation errors
• Ensure all quality standards are met to ensure company is able to sell loan
• Will work closely with various team members to ensure quick and accurate processing of loans

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE UNDERWRITER:

• 5+ years of underwriting experience, preferably with conventional and government loans
• DE required. SAR certification is preferred
• Strong understanding of loan origination systems
• Experience with Encompass is a plus
• Experience with builder loan is a plus
• Extensive knowledge of FHA, VA and investor guidelines is required
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and highly organized
• Strong with time-management and meeting tight deadlines
