ENGINEERING & CONSTRUCTION | BREA, CA | STAFF STRUCTURAL BIM DESIGNER
We are looking for a Structural BIM Designer to prepare BIM models and construction documents for commercial aviation, federal government, DoD and DoE projects.
- $35-$40 per hour,
- 30 - 40 hours per week, M-F
- Contract with opportunity to convert FT (Contract-to-Hire)
- Candidate will work in the office. No remote/hybrid work.
Description:
This position will contribute to projects vital to the security of the country while having the opportunity to lead and mentor more junior-level designers and detailers. These projects encompass airport terminal design, jet engine test facilities, flight simulator facilities, long-span aircraft maintenance hangars, high explosive research facilities, classrooms, administration buildings, and others.
- The Structural BIM Designer will work on an integrated design team within The Aviation & Federal Global Practice to perform the following duties:
- Use Revit to create, manage and own structural BIM models and develop content, as needed.
- Perform multi-discipline coordination utilizing BIM techniques and clash detection tools.
- Lead effort in planning and preparing drawings derived from BIM models.
- Interface BIM models with structural analysis tools.
- Generate project-specific custom Revit families and BIM templates and content, as needed.
- Demonstrate knowledge of BIM and CAD standards and best practices.
- Learn and successfully apply company, client, and project drafting standards and procedures.
- Demonstrate ability to apply formulas, principles, and practices to complete required models and drawings.
- Provide a range of drawing production work including problem analysis, layout, modeling, detailing, drafting, and coordination with other disciplines on project of substantial variety and complexity.
- Demonstrate knowledge of assigned and related disciplines.
- Coordinate BIM activities with other designers, drafters, and design disciplines.
- Successfully communicate and correspond with internal design resources and external clients and personnel.
- Execute design changes and project drawing revisions.
- Maintain BIM and CAD proficiency and mastery of current software platforms.
- May perform field inspections.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field. 7 years plus experience with progressive detailing and design. (Any Engineering field/major degree is NOT allowed for this role except for Engineering Technology).
- Revit experience is required.
- Advanced understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables.
- Knowledge in design, calculations and design systems.
- Knowledge in the theory and practices of structural discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
