    Adventure Summer Camp Staff

Camp Counselor or Station Coach – Summer 2026

Kong Academy is looking for skilled and passionate summer staff to help deliver high-quality, movement-based camps focused on social and emotional development. Our campers learn through play, and our staff create the environment that makes that possible.

We are hiring for two primary roles under this listing:

    • Camp Counselors who work directly with camper groups
    • Station Coaches who lead themed, story-based activity stations

We will determine the best fit during the interview process based on your strengths, experience, and interests.

    What Makes This Camp Different

    • Low student-to-staff ratios during station activities (as low as 5 to 1)
    • Strong focus on social-emotional learning through active play
    • Clear systems and consistent support from leadership
    • Emphasis on structure, safety, and professionalism without losing the fun
    • A team that takes both the mission and each other seriously

    Who We're Looking For

This role is ideal for experienced educators, aspiring teachers, behavior specialists, and college students studying child development, education, or related fields.

We are not a fit for first-time camp staff without prior experience working with children. However, they are welcome to apply for assistant roles if available.

You must be available for at least 3 to 4 weeks of camp. Preference is given to applicants who can commit to the full summer.

    Role DescriptionsCamp Counselor

    • Lead a group of 12 to 16 campers through their full camp day
    • Build relationships, support behavior, and guide daily experiences
    • Help with transitions between activities and stations
    • Support emotional regulation and model SEL strategies
    • Lead group games, discussions, and reflection activities

    Station Coach

    • Lead a dedicated activity station for rotating groups of campers
    • Use storytelling, improv, or character play to bring games to life
    • Run structured movement-based sessions with consistency and energy
    • Ensure safety, engagement, and SEL integration in each session
    • Reinforce daily themes and support camp culture

    Camp Schedule

    • Locations: Carkeek Park and Seward Park (10 weeks each)
    • Camp Hours: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
    • Staff Shifts: May vary by week. Staff may work:
    • Morning Shift: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
    • Afternoon Shift: 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM
    • Full-Day Shift: 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM
    • Weekly hours range from 15 to 40, depending on role and camp needs

    Minimum Requirements

    • Prior experience working with children (camp, school, coaching, etc.)
    • Comfortable with physical play and outdoor environments
    • Clear communicator and strong team player
    • Emotionally mature, dependable, and organized
    • Available for a minimum of 3 to 4 weeks of the summer

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Background in education, behavior support, or recreation
    • First Aid and CPR certification (not required but helpful)
    • Experience with SEL, neurodiversity, or restorative practices
    • Storytelling, theater, improv, or D&D experience (especially helpful for Station Coaches)
