Aerospace Engineer / Weaponeer - Journeyman

We're currently looking for a motivated Aerospace Engineer/Weaponeer - Journeyman to join our dynamic development team who has experience in evaluating weapons effectiveness, specialized experience in weapon performance & integration, effects of kinetic weapons, and has engineering experience in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, control systems, vibration and material science. Qualified candidates must be a U.S. Citizen, possess an active DoD Secret clearance and be able to maintain a Secret security clearance in order to perform this work. Employment for this position is contingent upon the successful award of the associated contract, anticipated to begin in August, 2025.

Our team supports the Joint Technical Coordinating Group for Munitions Effectiveness (JTCG/ME) in its mission to provide a mechanism for inter-service efforts to improve the databases and analytical methodologies the Joint force uses to determine non-nuclear weapons effectiveness. JWS is a key component of this mission, as it is designed to support U.S. and allied military planners in selecting the most effective munitions and delivery tactics to achieve specific target effects. Its primary purpose is to provide a standardized, scientifically-based tool for weaponeering — the process of matching weapons to targets to produce a desired level of damage or effect.
The successful candidate will be an experienced weapons engineer who is a consummate team player capable of researching, analyzing, and engineering solutions to meet customer demand. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess effective communication skills, and have experience with development and implementation of weapons systems.
Responsibilities — What you'll do:
- Be a part of an agile team that works together to organize, manage, and complete their work on products
- Support the government sponsor in systems engineering activities such as developing requirements, identifying trade studies, developing interface control documents, planning and executing tests, and assessing risks
- Lead and participate in engineering team meetings and overall technical development efforts
- Maintain oversight of all engineering/weapons integration activities
- Support working groups, program management reviews, technical interchange meetings
- Serve as government interface for weapons and engineering related items
- Monitor, review, and comment on test plans, test procedures and test results
- Play a key role in helping design solutions and demonstrate feature-rich applications
- Support and improve our existing applications and tools, both for clients and company use
- Improve operations through conducting system analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures
- Conduct research for, report on, and support development of proof-of-concepts and prototypes for R&D projects
- Work with industry, academic, and government laboratory staff to identify opportunities and apply promising emerging technologies to advanced weapon systems applications
- Produce reports that bring together concept definitions, requirements, analysis results, and technical recommendations
Qualifications — We need someone who:
- ****Has a bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, and electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a similar technical field and/or equivalent years of experience
- Has 3-10 years of strong engineering and weapons experience
- Can produce reports that bring together concept definitions, requirements, analysis results, and technical recommendations
- Has a demonstrated capability of working with engineering teams, test facilities, and/or sponsors to execute development test
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with sponsor representatives
- Has the ability and willingness to travel to present work to customers, provide technical advice during new system development/system modifications, and support laboratory/field testing
- Has experience in producing reports that bring together concept definitions, requirements, analysis results, and technical recommendations
- Has a fundamental understanding in agile, software design and development
- Manages time well and can prioritize tasks to ensure projects are completed on time
- Engages with teammates, both virtually and face-to-face, to plan projects, seek out or provide help on issues, as well as present solutions to clients
- Is a U.S. Citizen
- Has an active DoD Secret clearance. A Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment
Preferred — It's even better if you:
- Have a military tactical weapons background
- Have Surface to Surface and/or Air to Surface Military/ Weaponeering/ Targeting experience
- Have demonstrated experience of 5+ years integrating airborne weapons systems, to include systems engineering, test, and/or program management expertise
- Have a good understanding of mathematical/physics concepts and weapon effects analysis
