    Affigen seeks a talented, creative and driven Senior Research Scientist/Team Lead to direct its early-phase in vitro and in vivo therapeutic antibody development efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for a team that will execute a range of protein engineering and molecular biology projects, followed by in vivo and in vitro assessments of their performance.  The company seeks high technical expertise in mammalian cell culture techniques, rapid gene cloning and expression, phagemid library screening, Fab/scFv characterization, monoclonal antibody expression, novel protein purification and characterization, functional characterization of mAbs in cell lines and in xenograft models, custom cell line development and evaluation, xenograft development and evaluation, proof-of-concept animal study design, data analysis and reporting, grant writing, contribution to regulatory submissions, and authorship of academic publications.

    The Senior Research Scientist/Team Lead will lead key research projects for early phase development programs, including coordinating internal and external partner/vendor laboratory activities, animal studies and supporting R&D activities. A successful candidate for this position will be self-directed, goal-oriented, and able to manage multiple R&D, regulatory and business priorities while maintaining focus on study quality and long-term success of the therapeutic program.

    Position Requirements

    • Ph.D. and/or M.D. in biomedical sciences, immunology or other relevant scientific disciplines, with stellar publication track record (ideally in immuno-oncology and hematology)
    • Postdoctoral experience preferred but not required
    • 6+ years of direct research or work experience in immunology or oncology-related fields.
    • Expertise in molecular cell biology and xenograft models for cancer, in particular lymphoma/leukemia model development
    • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
    • Strong data analysis and presentation skills
    • Leadership experience, including experience supervising and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams 
    • Familiarity with early-stage biologics development
    • Track record of successful grant and project-proposal writing strongly preferred
    • Experience with bioinformatics, biostatistics, and biomedical computing is a strong plus
    • Experience with monoclonal antibody and derivative therapeutic modalities preferred
