    Job Description

    SUMMARY

     

    The Systems Engineer develops, maintains, and supports Affinity Development Groups technical infrastructure, including network, hardware, database, and system software components. This role will be responsible for collaborating with and enabling product teams with infrastructure. Systems Engineers are expected to leverage tooling and custom applications to monitor and optimize performance.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    · Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

    · Install and configure systems as needed and to specifications requested.

    · Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.

    · Contribute to and maintain system standards.

    · Telecom Responsibilities

    · Design and maintain Call Flow

    · Manage Recordings and retention

    · Assist with reporting

    · Work with Vendors to implement solutions and troubleshoot issues

    · Research and implement tools necessary to keep the telephone system operational and meeting our needs

    · Make recommendations and decisions to best fit the companies Telephony needs

    · Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify strategies that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.

    · PLANNING & ANALYSIS

    · Will research and analyzes business trends and behavioral data to identify opportunities for improvements and new initiatives.

    · Drives the evaluation, development, and recommendation of specific technology products and platforms to provide cost-effective solutions that meet business and technology requirements.

    · Research and designs best-fit infrastructure, network, database, and security architectures for products.

    · Proactively creates and maintains tools for monitoring and support.

    · Participates in project planning and reporting across multiple efforts.

    · SUPPORT AND ENABLEMENT

    · Provide 3rd Level support and troubleshooting

    · Collaborates with product and project teams to understand needs and enable them with infrastructure.

    · Support technology architecture design review efforts for project and product teams.

    · Leverages tooling and custom applications to monitor the operational status of applications, infrastructure, networks, databases, and security; optimizes and tunes performance as appropriate.

    · Drives root cause analysis, debugging, support, and post-mortem analysis for security incidents and service interruptions.

    · Maintains, upgrades, and supports existing systems and infrastructure to ensure operational stability.

    · Opens and manages vendor problem tickets to resolution.

    · Drives the production of in-house documentation around solutions.

    · Monitors tools and proactively helps teams struggling with systems issues.

    · Provides application support for software running in production.

    · Creates scripts and tools that drive automation and enable product teams and end users to move towards self service.

    · LEARNING

    · Keep abreast of innovations and industry trends and changes to internal systems and determine how they impact tools, training, and support necessary to keep systems up, running, and secure.

    · Participates in and contributes to learning activities around modern systems engineering core practices (communities of practice)

    · Proactively views articles, tutorials, and videos to learn about new technologies and best practices being used within other technology organizations.

    · Other duties as assigned

     

    REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

     

    · 5-7 years of related industry experience with a comprehensive understanding of IT Operations and working in a large-scale, multi-platform environment OR equivalent combination of education and experience

    · Experience with the following:

    o Windows Server operating systems

    o VMware ESX and virtualization methodologies

    o Cloud Services (Azure, AWS, Google)

    o Security Methodologies and Data protection

    o Storage Area Networks

    o Strong Networking skills (Routing and Switching)

    o Basic Exchange Management

    o SQL Server Connectivity and configuration

    o User and Computer management in Active Directory

    o Highly Available Hardware

    o Load Balancers

    · Able to operate independently, though typically working as part of a team with varying skillsets

    Able to work on-call as needed
