    Job description: Paramedic

    Deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective care to patients by possessing a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and upholding a patient focused care. Bring an intelligence and initiative approach to learning and improving. Work in a fast-paced environment. Be personally accountable for one’s self, managers, and the company at large.

    Essential functions:

    Collect and document the patient's current health status and medical history in New Patient Information section of JotForm. Complete and/or review medical information as defined by policy on existing customers. Make accurate and ongoing assessment of patient's status and respond appropriately.

    The plan of care is initiated at the first patient interaction and based on all aspects of the initial assessment. Plan includes physiological, psychosocial, and environmental factors: patient/significant other education relating to medications, treatment options, and likely outcomes.

    Document accurately, an impression of patient status. Document patient care in Medical Chart section of JotForm: including patient’s complaint/reason for visit, intervention and treatments provided, patient response to care provided, any abnormalities encountered (when necessary). Demonstrate accurate and timely documentation according to guidelines.

    Provide patient/significant other appropriate information regarding treatments and suggested add-ons to treatment in a timely manner.

    Perform direct patient care, using established procedures, policies and standards set forth by the Medical Director and Affinity Well Spa. Maintain a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and the ability to function in a fast-paced, ever changing environment.

    Administer medications, via injection and intravenous routes according best practice standards and adhere to policy and procedure.

    Observe and document patient's response to therapies and medications (exit vital signs or comment field for abnormalities encountered).

    Demonstrate ability and appropriate technical skills when administering treatments and procedures in accordance with physician's orders and policy and procedure. Be proficient in obtaining vascular access. Perform and chart objectively within a timely manner.

    Demonstrate necessary skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to policy and procedure.

    Demonstrate ability to handle urgent/unexpected/emergency situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner.

    Communicate to other staff members, managers, and nurse as needed.

    Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patient and staff according to policy and procedure as evidenced by staff/client feedback.

    Ensure that supplies and equipment necessary for patient care are stored in an organized and efficient manner, accessible for use, and restocked when supply is low.

    Participate in economical utilization of supplies and ensure that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.

    Remain conscientious regarding personal hygiene.

    Job Skills and Requirements:

    Critical Thinking Skills: Infusion providers will need to assess a patient's health, as well as detect changes in symptoms, health, or pain, and will need to know when action is necessary.

    Proficiency in a vast array of Medications, Vitamin, and Minerals. Being informed and educated on current treatment options is of utmost importance. Be available to answer any and all questions clients or bystanders, may have.

    Compassion: You will need to be sympathetic to a patient's needs and be able to deal with people in various states of pain, ailments, and complaints.

    Attention to Detail: Infusion providers administer medicines and work with specific treatments that, if wrong could prove fatal. Attention to detail is crucial.

    Organizational Skills: Infusion providers will face multiple patients, with differing needs, stages of health and risks. Being organized and knowing how to prioritize will be helpful.

    Calm Under Pressure: Infusion providers might face emergency, life-or-death situations. Being able to function in the heat of emergency will be necessary.

    Patience: Giving care under stressful circumstances requires patience.

    Communication Skills: You will be communicating directly with patients/clients who could be scared, in pain or in shock. Families/Friends will have questions and want answers. You will need to be an active listener and effective communicator to help keep everyone informed and answer any questions that may arise. You are expected to communicate with your managers and provide confirmation of information provided.

    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires intermittent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching as well as lifting various amounts.

    Position type/Expected hours of work:

    Employee will be scheduled based on operational need. This includes flexing/staying late to meet the client’s needs on weekdays, weekends, and potentially holidays. On-call may be needed to accommodate the client needs.

    Employees are expected to clock in and out of the shift at the scheduled time, unless performing official Affinity Well Spa business later than scheduled time.

    Travel:

    Travel is primarily local during the business day, most out-of-the-area and overnight travel is not expected. Employee will be required to work at any facility and be responsible for his/her own transportation to scheduled shifts. Travel to events may be provided depending on distance and circumstance.

    Personalized services can be provided to clients in their home or place of business, travel to and from these locations are required.

    Required Education:

    Current certification or licensure as EMT-Paramedic

    Current CPR/BLS/ACLS certification
