Shangri-La is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities and families with disadvantages recognize and achieve their potential. Beginning in 1963, Shangri-La has been on a mission to promote personal achievement by increasing the ability of individuals to contribute, influencing community change, and encouraging independence.
The HR Director will be responsible for executing Shangri-La’s full-scale talent management plan. This includes, but is not limited to recruitment, onboarding, benefits and compensation, retention, and offboarding. Shangri-La does the basics of HR well. What they need now is an HR Director who is ready to help level up the approach to talent recruitment and engagement- including DEI work, succession planning, designing career pathways, and benefit offerings.
This is a dynamic role for a dynamic person who:
Has experience leading an HR team for 4+ individuals.
Is comfortable navigating complex employee needs (employee relations, retention, recognition) - Shangri-La has 30+ locations and 300+ staff.
Has an aptitude within HR data and metrics, and also understands the importance of working with care inside a human organization.
Can communicate and collaborate within all layers of the organization from Volunteers to the Executive Team.
Has a passion for design and strategic thinking - taking the role and organization to the next level!

This role must be present in Shangri-La’s Salem office Monday - Friday.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a dynamite HR team.
Develop and execute a full-scale talent management plan, with input from across the organization.
Stay in tune with the market dynamics, company performance, and organizational health data to ensure we are always improving and ensuring high-quality outcomes aligned with our vision, values, and mission.
Collaborate with departmental leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
Administer or oversee the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to compensation, benefits and leave, corrective action matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition and morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development.
Identify staffing and recruiting needs; develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management.
Conduct research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS).
Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Develop and implement the departmental budget.
Perform other duties as required.
Other Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and SHRM-SCP and/or SPHR are preferred.
Due to the nature and sensitivity of the work this organization does, a current Oregon Driver’s License and acceptable driving record is required.
Candidates must be able to be approved by the background criminal history unit.
A successful candidate must have a working knowledge of the full employee life-cycle within HR, preferably with expertise in a high turnover setting, and should encompass a Human-centered leadership style.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this full-time position is $90,000-$120,000, commensurate with experience and skills.
