Roofing Technician
+--------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | The IMAP Roofing Technician is responsible for completing preventative | | maintenance and corrective maintenance in accordance with the IMAP | | Roofing SOW. | | | | +----------------------------------------------------------------------- | | ---+ | | | Role and Responsibilities | | | | | | | | | | | | - On the first day at Post, attend the In-Brief Meeting, and assist | | in | | | | relaying the Team’s plans to complete their SOW, and to field | | | | | | additional tasks requested by the Facility Manager (FM); as well a | | s | | | | attending any Security Briefings. | | | | | | - Work with the teammates to locate and required materials or suppli | | es | | | | that were sent ahead of the team, and arrange for them to be | | | | | | transported to the roof, if necessary. | | | | | | - Work with teammates to coordinate access to any lifts, scaffolding | | , | | | | or large machinery that will be required to complete the | | | | | | approved SOW. | | | | | | - Assist the teammates in coordinating access to all roofs that will | | | | | | be serviced. | | | | | | - Ask for As-Built Drawings, Specifications, Service Logs, Technical | | | | | | Data of each system, Historic Data on installation and repairs, | | | | | | Warranty Information, and Infrared (IR) Thermography documentation | | | | | | (if available through the Technician or Post). | | | | | | - Review As-Built Drawings and compare them to the existing conditio | | ns | | | | at each facility and make necessary Red-Line changes to the docume | | nt | | | | to reflect the actual conditions. Include copies of this in the | | | | | | final Trip Completion Report (TCR) | | | | | | - Complete PM on the following Roofing Systems, as approved in the | | | | | | SOW: | | | | | | - The Roof/Drainage System (i.e., wall and projection flashing | | | | | | systems, seams, surfacing materials, coatings, membranes, roof | | | | | | fastenings, insulation, substrates, decks, and | | | | | | drainage elements. | | | | | | - Parapet walls, copings, and roof structures: concrete and | | | | | | masonry elements, stair/elevator bulk heads, penthouses, | | | | | | equipment rooms, chimneys. | | | | | | - Sheet metal (i.e., copings, gutters, rain leaders, scuppers, | | | | | | counter flashings, edgings, gravel stops, flashings, metal | | | | | | roofs, fascia, mansards, termination bars, siding, and | | | | | | through-wall systems). | | | | | | - Equipment on the roof (i.e., HVAC, plumbing, air handling unit | | s, | | | | cooling towers, lightning protection systems, photovoltaic | | | | | | systems, satellite/communication dishes; and related anchoring | | | | | | systems, roof/parapet/wall connections). | | | | | | - ‘Green’ Roof Systems and related elements. | | | | | | - Water testing to identify locations of leaks. | | | | | | - Review the necessary work to be completed for each roof, and creat | | e | | | | a safe plan for executing the work required. | | | | | | - Coordinate with IMAP Logistics group to ensure that you carry | | | | | | everything that is needed to be safe while completing SOW with you | | r | | | | during travels. You should not need to rely on Post to have the | | | | | | necessary equipment available for you. | | | | | | - Work with teammates to report any failures of company issued | | | | | | equipment or GFE to IMAP Logistics support group. | | | | | | - Inspect harness and equipment for wear prior to every use, to ensu | | re | | | | that there are no risks of equipment failure. | | | | | | - Verify all barriers, tie-off points, and other system components a | | re | | | | placed properly and in good condition. | | | | | | - Notify the FM immediately of any concerns or issues with the | | | | | | existing Roof Protection System. | | | | | | - Complete repairs to damage/deterioration at joints, counter | | | | | | flashings, gravel stops, parapets, and wall copings, as well as | | | | | | wrinkle, splits, holes, etc., in the roofing membrane and base | | | | | | flashings, deteriorated connections and/or seals at | | | | | | counter-flashings, penetrations, edge metals, skylights and hatche | | s, | | | | etc., loose drainage elements/drain clamping-rings, and trash/debr | | is | | | | removal from drain and roof surfaces. | | | | | | - Repair any leaks that were identified. | | | | | | - Document progress and observations with pictures, which should be | | | | | | included in a Trip Completion Report. Include before and after | | | | | | photos of any issues that were resolved. | | | | | | - Ensure that all areas visited, or where work was performed, are | | | | | | properly cleaned and organized after work is completed. | | | | | | - Wear proper Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) at all time when | | | | | | working on equipment. | | | | | | - Report and resolve (if possible) any life, health, or safety issue | | s | | | | discovered at Post. | | | | | | - Create a Bill of Materials (BOM) to document all the recommended | | | | | | spare parts, repair parts, and recommended tools associated with t | | he | | | | equipment that you worked on during the visit, or as directed by t | | he | | | | Team Leader. | | | | | | - Review all tickets, Electronic Country Clearances (eCC’s), and | | | | | | passports as they are received from the office, to verify that the | | re | | | | are no issues or mistakes made that need to be resolved. | | | | | | - Ensure that the FM is informed of and kept up-to-date regarding an | | y | | | | issues that are encountered during the visit. These could be issue | | s | | | | related to the functionality of equipment, access issues, | | | | | | parts/materials needed, etc. | | | | | | - Attend Out-Brief Meeting with all Team Members to relay the result | | s | | | | of the training and preventative/corrective maintenance that | | | | | | you completed. Relay any remaining deficiencies that you were not | | | | | | able to resolve during the visit, as well as the BOM for any parts | | | | | | recommended, and the next steps Post needs to take to resolve the | | | | | | issues in question. Discuss any work habits of the LES that the F | | M | | | | may not be aware of, as well as assist the LES in addressing | | | | | | concerns/requests with the FM. | | | | | | - Complete a Field Time Summary documenting all hours worked during | | | | | | the trip, and have your POC sign it. Send a copy of the signed | | | | | | document to your Field Supervisor each week. | | | | | | - Discuss any concerns to plan around for your next break cycle with | | | | | | Office Staff. Remember to be flexible, and work with our Teammates | | | | | | to find a time that is agreeable for everyone. | | | | | | - Complete a weekly Trip Expense Report (TER) to document all M&IE | | | | | | claimed, and any reimbursable expenses. | | | | | | - Document your time in your timesheet on a daily basis, ensuring th | | at | | | | you use the correct charge codes. | | | | | | - Read and remain up-to-date on all expectations and duties outlined | | | | | | in the Field Operations Manual that pertain to you or your positio | | n. | | | | - Stay up-to-date on your licenses and any applicable building codes | | . | | | | - Complete a Danger Pay Verification form and have it signed by Post | | , | | | | if necessary. | | | | | | - Send back any passports you don’t need to the IMAP Travel Manager | | | | | | ASAP to allow future visas to be procured. Work with your Team | | | | | | Leader to send them back together, if possible. Roofing Technicians (all levels) shall meet the below qualifications:
Additionally, Roofing Technicians are required to meet the below qualifications to be eligible for the positions described:
Level 1 – Requires at least 3 years of related experience as a Roofing Technician. Inspects, maintains, and repairs all Roofing Systems outlined in the SOW. Must have formal training and certification for built-up roof, modified bitumen, EPDM, PVC, elastomeric coatings, metal, and shingle roofing systems. Formal certification must be from an approved roofing manufacturer, RCI, or NRCA program. Ensures all roofing systems inspected and work performed meets required safety codes. Able to troubleshoot and resolve issues with all equipment listed in the IMAP Roofing SOW, but may require supervision from a Level 2 Roofing Technician. Able to use a wide variety of tools, measuring devices, and testing equipment to accomplish required tasks. Able to source and recommend required maintenance equipment and supplies/materials as required to complete maintenance tasks and improve processes/efficiencies. Typically works with a Level 2 Roofing Technician.
Level 2 – Requires 10+ years of related experience as Roofing technician. In addition to meeting the requirements of and having the ability to perform all the tasks/duties associated with a Level 1 Roofing Technician, expected to use all resources available to solve unique and complex roofing issues. Expected to perform as a team leader, to include resolving logistical issues that arise, relay required information to the IMAP Office, and provide training/guidance to Level 1 Roofing Technicians. Expected to be an ambassador for the IMAP contract in all situations, and go above and beyond to improve and optimize program operations.
