  • Responsibilities
    • Ensure on board student safety for students with special needs as required by their Individual Educational Plan. Assist students during pre-boarding transportation, during daily commutes and de-boarding the vehicle. 
    • Aide must have a clear understanding of emergency and evacuation procedures, be physically capable of evacuating students, be familiar with students and route, and be knowledgeable regarding disabilities of the students. Aide should ride the bus in a location that will provide them opportunity to provide effective oversight.
    • Ensure students requiring the use of Wheelchairs and other related Child Safety Restraint Systems (CSRS) are properly secured prior to the school bus being put into motion.
    • Ensure that only authorized students and DoDEA Personnel board the bus as specified by the Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
    • Ensure hand-to-hand custody of their assigned students to their assigned sponsor, parent, guardian and school officials.
    • Shall work in close concert with drivers, forming a professional and mutually supportive relationship.
    • Shall alert the driver when safety conditions warrant non-movement or halting the bus.
    • Execute emergency evacuation plans provided by the STO.
    • Shall be familiar and know the characteristics/features of the assigned bus safety equipment and the bus route, runs and bus stops.
    • Correct on-the-spot unsafe actions by student(s) that may result in injuries, and ensure good order and discipline when unruly student behavior that may interfere with the driver's ability to operate the bus safely.
    • Participate in school bus safety training and evacuation drills held during the school year.

    Required Skills

    • Must have a clear understanding of emergency and evacuation procedures.
    • Must be physically capable of evacuating students.
    • Knowledgeable regarding the disabilities of the students
    • Pass a Criminal Background Check that consists of the following:
    • Local Background Check from local Police and Court offices
    • State Criminal History repository check from each state which the employee resided during the last 10 years.
    • Local Installation Records Check (if the employee had regular access to the base for the past two years).
    • Must be trained and certified on Safe Crisis Management (SCM).
    • Must be CPR-AED & First Aid Certified.
    • Must complete AT Level 1 Anti-Terrorism Training.
    • Must register with NBG DBIDS, Base Access Credentials.

    Required Experience
