    About the Role

    Ben Bellucci Academy is looking for an athletic, high-energy After-School Basketball Instructor to lead our youth programs at these two key Anne Arundel County sites. We need a "hoops" specialist who can teach the fundamentals of the game to elementary students (Grades K-5) while making every session the highlight of their day.

    This role is ideal for local coaches, student-athletes, or mentors living in the Glen Burnie or Annapolis areas who want to share their passion for basketball.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Fundamental Instruction: Teach essential skills: proper shooting form, ball handling/dribbling, passing, and basic defensive stance.

    • Drill Leadership: Facilitate high-energy, station-based drills that keep 15–20 students active and engaged.

    • Game Management: Organize and referee small-sided scrimmages (3-on-3 or 4-on-4) focused on teamwork and sportsmanship.

    • Mentorship: Be a positive leader who encourages effort and discipline on and off the court.

    • Site Logistics: Manage student transitions from the classroom to the gym. Ensure proper check-in/out and coordinate with school staff.

    • Equipment: Handle setup and breakdown of portable hoops (if needed), balls, and cones.

    Qualifications

    • Experience working with children (coaching, camp counselor, or PE background).

    • Solid knowledge of basketball rules and fundamental skill progressions.

    • Ability to command a group of 15–20 children with positive energy and authority.

    • Reliable transportation to travel between Glen Burnie and Annapolis.

    • Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive fingerprinting and background check meeting Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) vendor standards.

    • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.

    Schedule amp; Pay

    • Hours: After-school hours, typically ranging from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

    • Commitment: 1–3 days per week (flexible based on your availability at these specific sites).

    • Pay Rate: $22.00 – $27.00 per hour based on coaching experience.
