About the Role:

Wizards of Chess is looking for a passionate and engaging After School Chess Coach to inspire the next generation of strategic thinkers in Bloomington, MN! This is a fantastic opportunity to combine your love of chess with the rewarding experience of working with young learners in a fun, after-school environment.

Responsibilities:

Teach chess fundamentals, rules, and strategies to students of varying skill levels

Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate chess lessons and activities

Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment

Monitor student progress and adapt instruction to meet individual needs

Organize and facilitate in-class chess tournaments and friendly competitions

Maintain classroom order and ensure student safety during after-school sessions

Communicate student progress and program updates to parents and school staff

Requirements:

Solid working knowledge of chess rules, tactics, and strategy

Prior experience working with children in a coaching, tutoring, or educational setting preferred

Strong communication and classroom management skills

Patient, enthusiastic, and able to motivate and engage young students

Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor

Ability to pass a background check

Chess tournament or competitive chess experience is a plus
