Position Overview
Big Ideas Educational Services is seeking a professional and dependable Security Guard who is a current Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) employee. This requirement ensures proper campus access, compliance, and alignment with school-day security protocols.
The Security Guard plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment during after-school program hours.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Patrol school premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, gates, and program areas
Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, students, parents, and visitors
Maintain visibility during student dismissal and parent pick-up procedures
Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances
Contact police or fire departments in cases of emergency (fire, medical emergency, unauthorized persons, etc.)
Circulate among students, visitors, and staff to preserve order and protect property
Follow all school-site safety procedures, including arrival and dismissal protocols
Adhere to schedules as assigned by the Site Manager
Follow the established chain of command as outlined in the Staff Handbook
Participate in weekly team meetings as required
Support site staff in maintaining a safe, structured, and positive environment
Respond to parent questions and concerns in a professional, calm, and courteous manner
Qualifications
Must be a current MDCPS employee (required)
High School Diploma or higher
Clear Level II background screening
1–2 years of experience working with children or in a school setting preferred
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities independently
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in high-pressure situations
Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and reliability
Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
Punctual, trustworthy, and team-oriented
