After-School Group Leader

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Agency Coordinator and Program Facilitator, the After-School Group Leader works directly with a group of 10–20 students. This role is responsible for implementing engaging curriculum, leading activities, and creating a safe and positive environment for students. The Group Leader helps provide a high-quality program experience that reflects the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must pass the Paraprofessional Examination upon hire or have a minimum of 48 college units
- Experience working with school-aged children preferred (training provided)
- Passion for working with children and making a positive impact in the community
- Ability to plan, organize, and lead age-appropriate activities
- Ability to build positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds
- Fingerprint clearance, Mandated Reporter Training, and TB test required upon hire
- Reliable transportation required
Schedule
- Regular Positions: Monday–Friday between 12:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
- Substitute Positions: Flexible schedule available
- Some Saturday plannings or trainings throughout the year
Essential Responsibilities
- Implement program curriculum within established guidelines
- Plan and lead daily activities and weekly lesson plans
- Supervise and guide students during program activities
- Observe and evaluate student participation and engagement
- Maintain program site, materials, and equipment
- Attend family nights, program events, staff meetings, and training
