    Job Description

    We are looking for a highly motivated operations professional to join Square’s world-class Risk organization to help support onboarding Merchants onto the Afterpay platform. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of credit and fraud analysis, and a desire to apply those skills in new and innovative ways to help Afterpay grow our annual processing volume, and prevent loss related to chargebacks.

    In this role, you will be responsible for conducting reviews of new Merchants, assessing the potential risks of them onboarding to the platform, and taking appropriate action in line with our policies. You will be comfortable in an operations environment, maintaining high quality standards while ensuring that we adhere to internal and seller-facing service-level agreements. You will have a thirst for knowledge—gathering insights, identifying areas for improvement, and contributing to key initiatives to push our team forward. Lastly, we expect you to be dynamic and adaptable, have a positive attitude, and be passionate for Square’s mission of Economic Empowerment.     Job Responsibilities

    • Perform reviews of new Merchants requesting access onto the Afterpay platform
    • Utilize internal policies to inform onboarding decisions
    • Analyze risks associated with different seller business models
    • Collect and review appropriate documentation necessary to assess and mitigate risk
    • Work effectively with internal partners including other Risk teams and Compliance, as well as multiple levels of management
    • Help identify process improvements and contribute to key projects and initiatives
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 1+ years experience in credit, fraud, underwriting, finance, or related field
    • Previous experience in commercial banking or card processing a plus
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Self-starter; comfort dealing with ambiguity
    • Strong sense of accountability for helping our team achieve its collective goals and best-serve our customers
    • Must be a team-oriented individual with a willingness to contribute new ideas, collaborate, and learn from and mentor others
    • Efficient and strong time management skills

    Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

    Zone A: USD $28.17 - USD $34.42
    Zone B: USD $26.20 - USD $32.02
    Zone C: USD $22.79 - USD $27.88
    Zone D: USD $21.11 - USD $25.82
