Position Overview: Afterschool Program Aide & Driver
We’re seeking energetic, dependable, and safety-minded team members to serve as Afterschool Program Aide & Driver. This dual role supports both student transportation and daily afterschool programming.
This position is ideal for college students, aspiring educators, or individuals passionate about youth development who are comfortable driving students and actively engaging with them once they arrive at the program.
You’ll work closely with Lead Staff to ensure students are transported safely and supported in a positive, structured afterschool environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Transportation Duties
Safely transport students from designated schools to the Heritage Program site following assigned routes and schedules
Conduct vehicle safety checks before and after each route
Maintain a calm, orderly, and respectful environment during transport
Supervise students during pickup, drop-off, and transitions
Communicate any delays, incidents, or concerns promptly to Lead Staff
Afterschool Program Support
Support daily enrichment activities such as outdoor games, arts & crafts, homework help, and team-building exercises
Assist with classroom management and behavior redirection using positive reinforcement strategies
Supervise students during snack time, group activities, transitions, and dismissal
Help set up and clean up materials, supplies, and shared program spaces
Follow established routines and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment
Step in to support various program needs as needed throughout the day
What We’re Looking For:
Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record
Experience working with children (babysitting, tutoring, camps, schools, church, etc.)
Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
Calm, patient, and confident supervising groups of children
Strong communication skills and ability to follow direction
Team player with a positive, flexible attitude
Ability to keep up with a fast-paced afterschool environment
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Bilingual and/or culturally responsive individuals strongly encouraged to apply
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, approximately 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Hours may vary slightly based on school dismissal times
Occasional special events or weekend events may be available
