Position Overview

Count Your Blessings Preschool is seeking a caring, energetic, and dependable Afterschool Teacher to join our team. This position supports school-age children during afterschool hours by providing a safe, engaging, and structured environment that promotes learning, creativity, and positive social development.

The Afterschool Teacher plays a key role in guiding children through transitions from the school day, supporting homework time, leading enrichment activities, and maintaining a nurturing atmosphere aligned with our mission and values.

Schedule

Part-time position

Typical hours: Monday–Friday, afternoon hours (exact schedule may vary)

Year-round program following the preschool calendar

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and engage school-age children in a safe and developmentally appropriate manner.

Support homework completion and provide academic encouragement as needed.

Plan and lead age-appropriate activities including art, games, outdoor play, and group projects.

Maintain consistent routines and positive behavior guidance strategies.

Ensure children are signed in and out according to licensing and program procedures.

Communicate effectively with families and team members regarding daily activities and child progress.

Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom and outdoor environment.

Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety guidelines, and Count Your Blessings Preschool policies.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in education or child development preferred.

Experience working with school-age children in a childcare, afterschool, or educational setting preferred.

Ability to manage a group of children with patience, consistency, and positive guidance.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Must meet all state childcare licensing requirements, including background checks.
