  • Responsibilities

    This position will be responsible for scheduling, placing and summarizing AgBiome field trials needed to advance product development and commercial initiatives.  In this role, you will support Biology Leaders who are responsible for various technical aspects of trial programs. As a Field Trial Coordinator, you will be a critical part of our future, ensuring that programs are effectively executed, and that data needed to bring innovative, sustainable and valuable products to Agriculture are produced and available to the Organization.   Specifically, you will work with Biology program leads to place and track trials with Contract Research Organizations (CROs), ensure all aspects of trials are conducted and data collected. The Field Trial Coordinator will also be responsible for effectively tracking the status of trials and payments to third parties as well as securing the integrity of field data, a critical resource of AgBiome.  In this role you will also have the opportunity to build your network of professional researchers outside of AgBiome as well as build deep expertise in field and product development.

    Specific Activities:

    Field Trial Management

    • Work closely with Biology leads to understand protocols and objectives, and identify appropriate organization(s) to conduct field trials.
    • Along with Biology leads, develop plans for placement of trials.
    • Assist Biology leads in generating and managing formal protocols.
    • Work with Biology leads to contact researchers and establish program timelines, sample needs and budgets.
    • Ensure that samples are requested and delivered to researchers on time.  Track status of sample quantities vs requirements.
    • Ensure that CROs have appropriate USDA permits for required samples as well as other testing authorizations
    • Periodically contact researchers for status reports.  Address deviations and needed adjustments to programs with Biology leads and researchers.
    • Ensure qualitative information, such as photos and videos, is being captured.
    • Maintain tracking databases and information on trial status, report status of programs and budget forecasts.
    • Ensure that research data are provided from CROs and other researchers as needed by program leads - particularly new data, draft and final reports.
    • May be required to enter third party data into central database.
    • Gain approval of draft reports from Biology leads in a timely manner for finalization with CROs and other researchers.
    • Maintain a schedule of payments within tracking database.  Request and track payments to Researchers.

    Data and Information Management

    • Ensure deliverables generated by CROs and other cooperators, particularly research reports, meet protocol requirements.
    • Maintain trial tracking and reports database.
    • Ensure that final reports are indexed and archived in various databases, assist in the improvement of such.  Ensures integrity of data and databases.
    • Support Biology leads with data searches and extraction, summarization,  and analysis.
    • Generate summary and presentation materials in cooperation with, and supporting Biology leads.

    Fiscal Responsibility

    • Confirm payment schedules with Researchers, document and track status, request and ensure payments to cooperators.
    • Provide reports on budgets, forecasts and payments as needed.

    Other

    • It is expected that the Field Trial Coordinator will continue to build AgBiome's effective relationships with external partners, as well as within our organization.
    • From time to time, the Field trial coordinator may be requested to assist in greenhouse plant production and internal greenhouse and laboratory experiments.

    Requirements:

    • BS or early career MS in an agricultural discipline, such as plant pathology, agronomy, or entomology, and desire to learn product and field development
    • Some exposure to field research or production agriculture
    • Incredibly organized with keen attention to detail - a passion for quality and precision
    • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively through various media - such as teleconferences, email
    • Competency in Google and or Microsoft Office Suites particularly spreadsheet and presentation software
    • Some understanding of Agricultural Research Manager (ARM) software desirable, but not required.  Will be required to develop expertise and become an organizational resource

    Travel: 10-15%
