Position Title: Maintenance Technician (Part- Time) Salary: $18/hour Reports To: Head of Horticulture and Maintenance Job Summary: Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the historic house. Performs basic repair work and coordinates with vendors for larger projects. Maintains upkeep of parking areas, sidewalks, and other public areas. Assists with grounds projects as needed. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Primary responsibility for the preventative maintenance and repair work for the house and its systems. Work includes painting, staining, masonry repair, basic carpentry and plumbing. Supervise contractors for specialized work when necessary. 2. Responsible for maintaining hardscape. In winter, participate in snow removal as required for keeping grounds safe for staff and visitors. 3. Responsible for maintaining a variety of equipment including power equipment and for carrying out small engine repair. Also responsible for assisting with the organization and cleanliness of the Utility Building and Potting Shed including the proper storage of tools, machinery and supplies. 4. Assist with set up and clean up for Special Events and other activities when requested. Assist with collection of refuse and recycling. 5. Drive Agecroft vehicle to pick up and deliver supplies as needed. Job Specifications: Technical training and/or work experience in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, and/or masonry, etc. strongly preferred. A valid Virginia driver's license is required. Strong mechanical aptitude and work ethic. Good oral communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well on a team or independently. Working Conditions: 15-20 hours/week. Exposed to all weather conditions. Stooping, kneeling, bending and lifting up to 50 lbs. required. Occasional weekend, evening, and holiday work required. This is a part-time position.
