    Intern (Ahtna Shareholder Only) Ahtna Environmental Inc - Anchorage, AK Internship The Summer Intern position is based primarily out of Anchorage, Alaska during the summer season from approximately June through September. The intern will work with the various lines of business with a focus on construction and environmental work. This position will perform tasks involving physical labor indoors and outdoors, movement of material, equipment and parts between production areas, operating hand/power tools of all types: a variety of equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites and project locations. May provide support for field restoration activities as needed for projects, which may include work in remote field sites, logging excavations, and collection of field samples for laboratory analysis. Salary DOE Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Locates and moves materials, equipment and parts between work areas of project location/site to expedite processing of goods, according to pre-determined schedules, needs and priorities * Provide assistance to staff in the field/site location * General manual labor to include use of hand tools and provide manual labor support for project activities and site location. * May assist heavy equipment operator as ground support person. Identify any hazards as observed for safety of personnel and equipment * Requires the ability to properly wear, use, and maintain personal respirator equipment and/or other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) on HAZWOPER sites * Monitor job site for hazards and maintain a safe working environment * Possess good housekeeping skills with attention to detail on environmental hazardous to reduce personal exposure and potential spreading of hazardous contaminants. * Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials * Participate in Ahtna medical surveillance program, in accordance with 29CFR 1910.120 * Assist in providing scientific and technical support, coordination to project staff, preparing written project documentation * Assist in reviewing and documenting the processes necessary to obtain environmental permits, licenses, and other requirements necessary to achieve environmental restoration project objectives * Assist in preparing charts or graphs from data samples, providing summary information on the environmental relevance of the data * Assist in determining data collection methods to be employed in site surveys and investigations * Meet safety responsibilities and goals * Achieve quality requirements * Perform other duties as assigned Qualification Requirements * Must be Ahtna shareholder or shareholder descendent * High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) * Attending or entering college program in 2017-2018 * Minimum age: 18 years * Ability to pass HAZWOPER physical and respirator fit test * Ability to complete pre-employment background check and drug screening * Valid drivers license with clean driving record, ability to drive company vehicle * Ability to travel to remote locations for extended periods of time for days/weeks Preferred Qualifications * CPR/1st Aid certified * 40-Hour HAZWOPER Course and 8-Hour HAZWOPER refresher with the last 12 months * Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite and databases such as Access and PowerPoint * Knowledge of construction machines and tools; includes their designs, uses, repair and maintenance, and the practical application of use * Ability to explain technical aspects of field work to internal stakeholders verbally and in writing Shareholder Preference:
