    Our client is a well-funded startup in the greater Boston area, looking to expand their team with a curious and creative Lead Battery Pack Engineer. This is a full-time permanent role, relocation is provided for out of state candidates. 

    The Team:

    The Battery Pack Engineering team owns battery module development from fundamental science and electrochemical engineering up to manufacturing and assembly of a complete system. The team architects, designs, builds and tests battery modules across all of our client product lines, which require complex and detailed electrical, firmware, mechanical and chemical designs.

    The Role:

    The Lead Battery Pack Engineer will lead product design development, analysis, and prototype manufacturing effort to produce and commercialize next-generation Li-Metal batteries. You will be responsible for developing process solutions to handle battery modules from concept, development, and design of battery modules and packs.

    · Evaluate pack and cell requirements and find the best options for product volume, weight, and run-time requirements.

    · Develop Li-metal battery module and pack, including structure design, thermal design, safety design, and material selection

    · Test and validation plans for characterizing battery module and pack

    · Travel to Electric Vehicle customers and pack vendors as needed.

    · Provide build support to ensure that the process can meet the design intent.

    · Rigorous failure analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective action

    About You:

    Do you consider yourself to be a creative problem solver? Are you thinking about ways to make batteries last longer, have minimal weight and other like problems? We will consider a range of candidates, so don't get bogged down by the specific years or academic requirements, these are nice to haves!

    · MS/Ph.D. in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

    · 3-5 years of work experience in energy storage packaging roles: electrochemistry, Li-ion battery, battery module or pack design

    · Hands-on experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, ProE/Creo, CATIA, etc)

    · A broad range of experience designing for various materials and processes: plastic injection/compression molding, metal machining, metal forming/stamping, extensive material finishing and cosmetic treatments

    · Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) and the ability to discuss technical issues with a wide range of audiences
