Job Title: Air Conditioning Operator HVAC Central Plant

Pay: 34 to 40 per hour based on verified experience
We are hiring experienced Air Conditioning Operators to support a 24 7 central utility plant at a VA Medical Center in Nashville. This role supports critical hospital environments including operating rooms, labs, MRI, research areas, and IT spaces.
This is not residential HVAC. Central plant or large campus experience is required.
What You Will Do
• Operate and monitor 3,000 ton centrifugal chillers and supporting systems
• Start, stop, and adjust chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and air handlers
• Monitor condenser and chilled water systems
• Record hourly readings including pressures, temperatures, volts, and amps
• Respond to alarms and emergent facility issues
• Perform weekly and monthly preventive maintenance
• Maintain clean and organized mechanical and fan rooms
• Complete detailed shift hand off reports
Schedule Requirements
• Rotating 1600 to 2400 and 2400 to 0800 shifts
• Weekends required based on schedule
• Federal holidays required if scheduled
• Must be available for occasional emergency coverage
Minimum Requirements
• Minimum 1 year commercial HVAC or central plant experience
• Experience in hospital, industrial, or large campus environment preferred
• EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Certification required
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
• Strong documentation and communication skills
Security and Compliance
• Must pass VA Tier 1 background investigation
• Must obtain VA PIV badge prior to start
• Must provide Real ID compliant identification
• Must meet required occupational health screenings
