POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for researching and developing ideas and processes for new products. Improves upon the performance and design of existing products. Responsible for all aspects of projects including component and product design, engineering specifications and testing, product documentation, budgets, timelines, and customer communications.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE Acquired through education, certifications, training, experience.
Engineering and Technology -- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various medical products.
Mechanical - General knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Design -- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical drawings and models.
Production and Processing -- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of medical products.
Administration and Management -- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Computers - Solid Modeling CAD (Computer Aided Design) design experience required. Solidworks experience preferred. Microsoft suite experience required (word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations).
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Use computer-aided design (CAD) to design and document products.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a product development process.
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The core tasks, duties, and responsibilities that must be performed on the job.
Leads the design and development of new products from concept to production and makes improvements to existing products.
Design, model, and test prototypes for new and existing products.
Evaluates products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability.
Leads and works with a cross-functional team to ensure that the product development process is completed and meets the required design specifications for each project/product.
