    Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH Global) is looking for an Aircraft Cabinet Finisher.

    Pay Rate: $23.32 to $33.81 per hour (depending on experience, location, etc.)

    Job Type: Full-time, Contract

    Contract Duration: 12 months (w/opportunity for extension)

    Experience/Education:

    • High School diploma/GED.
    • Experience requirement ranges from entry level with experience in woodworking, wood finishing or auto body & painting experience in a technical environment or completion of technical certificate in cabinetmaking to four (4) years of experience in wood finishing processes with advanced knowledge of cabinet finishing processes and products.

    Unique Skills:

    • Valid driver's license may be required.
    • Participation in a DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program may be required.

    Purpose:

    Prepares and applies finishes to aircraft furniture using aircraft specifications, designs and engineering drawings with a high level of safety, quality, detail and productivity.

    Level I Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • With direct supervision learns entry-level technical skills and knowledge, regulatory requirements and tooling used in the Cabinet Finish shop. Continues to develop technical competency and problem-solving abilities to allow progression to the technician level.
    • Using standard safety and operating procedures, design/engineering drawings, tools and other materials (sandpaper, polishes, adhesives, solvents, masking mediums), develops proficiency in the preparation and finish of furniture.
    • Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off work.
    • Complies with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, uses personal protective equipment; ensures aircraft interior is protected (PTP).
    • Assists in the development and implementation of related initiatives.

    Level II Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Works under general supervision to prepare furniture for finish and disassembly using blueprints, aircraft specifications and design/engineering drawings.
    • Performs high quality repairs to various finished surfaces in the shop and aboard aircraft. Cleans and polishes blemishes as needed to prepare the aircraft for delivery. Applies finish to furniture using spray equipment and other manual/mechanical methods.
    • Uses various types of sandpapers, polishes, adhesives, masking mediums, solvents, finish materials, hand tools and various power tools to disassemble and finish furniture.
    • Complies with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies. Uses personal protective equipment to protect aircraft interior (PTP).
    • Uses the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off work.
    • Works with lead and higher skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements that increase safety, reduce, cost, cycle time, and man-hours using Lean Six-Sigma and other process improvement techniques.
    • Possess a working knowledge of inspection and process specifications.

    Level IV (i.e., Sr) Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Performs complex high-quality repairs to finished surfaces of aircraft furniture in the shop and on-board aircraft. Applies finish to furniture using spray equipment and other manual/mechanical methods.
    • Interprets material specifications to ensure finished product meets design and engineering requirements with a high level of quality and detail. Coordinates with Design group to ensure compliance with customer approved design samples.
    • Complies with and champions Safety, 5S and housekeeping. Ensures the protection of aircraft interiors (PTP).
    • Mentors and trains lesser skilled technicians.
    • Works to develop and implement process improvements that address safety, reduce cost, reduce cycle time, and man-hours using Lean Six-Sigma tools.
    • Utilizes the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and sign-off work.
    • Assists in developing initiatives to meet individual OGSM requirements, as required.
    • Accepts Lead responsibilities when needed. Oversees projects and coordinates with Lead to delegate tasks to assigned technicians.
    • Conducts safety audits and assists team members in doing safety audits.
    • Assists in maintaining shop equipment and associated JSAs.
    • Develops YI@W (Your Ideas at Work) as the opportunities present themselves.
    • Assists in monthly 5S audits.
    • Assists lead by overseeing projects and providing guidance, assistance and direction to co-workers. Mentors and trains other Cabinet Finishers.
    • Possess a working knowledge of inspection, process specifications and terminology.

    Other Requirements:

    • Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds and work any shift.
    • Must be computer literate.
    • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
