Position SummaryThe Interior Craftsperson is responsible for fabricating, installing, and refurbishing aircraft interior equipment and furnishings per work orders or customer requests. This includes tasks such as carpeting, upholstery on seats, card tables, side panels, glare shields, and aircraft cabinets.
Key ResponsibilitiesFabricate, install, refurbish, modify, and repair aircraft interior equipment and furnishings per work orders or customer requests.
Work with high-grade materials, including leather, from blueprints, drawings, and other illustrations or written work instructions.
Perform and document work performed per appropriate manuals and regulations as required.
Perform mechanical and electrical removals and installations of all seats, sidewalls, TVs, appliances, galleys, lavatories, etc., into refurbished or green completion aircraft.
Perform complex repairs in aircraft interior fabrication, including re-upholstery of panels, liners, and sidewalls.
Perform sewing, pattern, and foam build-up tasks as needed.
Plan, prepare, and cut materials to standardized patterns for stitching and fitting to customer and engineered requirements.
Develop new processes to reduce man-hours and material waste.
Perform final inspection for quality defects and repair.
Train other employees in performing their work as needed.
Minimum of 5+ years of interiors experience (e.g., previous wood finish and soft goods experience in auto, RV, boat, etc.) with minimal supervision.
Ability to interpret and work with mechanical engineering drawings.
Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and with care and precision.
Diploma qualification and relevant trades' qualification.
