    Summary

    The Aircraft Mechanic III performs maintenance to service, repair, and overhaul aircraft to insure airworthiness. Utilizes technical skills and knowledge to train and develop mechanics. Assists Leads with daily operation of functional area while working under minimal supervision.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    General

    • Oversees and co-signs for uncertified mechanics in accordance with the GTI RSM procedures.
    • Has vast knowledge of all areas of the aircraft and assigned work area.
    • Repair, modify, replace, or otherwise perform routine and non-routine aircraft maintenance work.
    • Reads and interprets manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, drawings, engineering orders, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repair, replacement, or modification.
    • Rig and operational test all flight control surfaces including but not limited to landing gear systems and engine systems.
    • Troubleshoots landing gear, flight control, engines, hydraulic and air-conditioning systems.
    • Uses technical data to order parts and ensure material is effective for aircraft being installed on.
    • Gathers information to submit to Engineering as needed.
    • Recognizes unsafe conditions and takes immediate corrective action.
    • May assist Leads with planning, production, and quality assurance of assigned projects.
    • Communicates effectively with other maintenance personnel at all levels by keeping co-workers and leadership apprised of work progress and difficulties as they arise.
    • Facilitates On-the-Job Training (OJT) to provide learning opportunities through work assignment and mentoring.
    • Helps with general clean-up of work area.
    • Responsible for accurately clocking to jobs.
    • Regular and prompt attendance.
    • Effective and appropriate conduct with co-workers.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Summary of Education, Experience & Certification

    High School education or equivalent. Minimum five (5) years of recent commercial/military aircraft maintenance and/or MRO experience preferred. Applicable Repairman, Airframe, or Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification required.

    This safety-sensitive position is covered by the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Any applicant selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment drug testing. Persons occupying a "safety-sensitive” position will be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing. Post-accident, reasonable cause, and return-to-duty tests may also be required based on specific circumstances. 

    US Citizen Required - this position is located at a facility that requires special access. 

     

    Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Ability to communicate in English (read, write, and verbally communicate).
    • Ability to read and interpret documents.
    • Must have knowledge of fundamental maintenance operations and practices and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to?operate ground support equipment e.g. power carts, Hi-Reach, etc. as required.?
    • May be required to move or lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to travel as required.
    • Ability to work outside of core business hours, as required.
    • Able to comply with DOT/FAA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
    • Able to climb and work on step stools and/or ladders.
    • Able to reach overhead.
    • Normal or corrected vision (required to perform exacting tasks).
    • Full range of motion with both hands.
    • Ability to work in a stooping, kneeling, or standing position, and in cramped areas.
