    Job Description

    The person we are looking for:
    An Aircraft Parts Buyer who will do the sourcing and procurement of aviation, aerospace and defense materials and services for the execution of various programs and projects. Submits actions for review and approval for procurement related activities and programs/projects. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain strong professional relationships with all vendors and customers and require diligent sourcing activity.

    Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Establish and maintain positive relationship with suppliers and internal stakeholders in support of departmental and company-oriented goals and objectives.
    • Maintain current accurate records & files of all vendor agreements & related procurement records; verify purchase order accuracy & keep ERP system status up to date.
    • Coordinate with quality personnel regarding rejections.
    • Source spare and replacement parts for military/commercial aircraft, ground systems, and electronics, consumables, rotables, POL, and other distributed materials.
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors.
    • Reading and understanding customer requests for specific part numbers.
    • Resolve price discrepancies, problems, errors with supplier in company’s best interest.
    • Making phone calls and sending emails to contacts to obtain price and delivery information and evaluating quotations. Coordinate returns and service problems with suppliers.
    • Monitor shipments to ensure that shipments are on time and that specified goods or services have been delivered.
    • Establish new suppliers by interviewing prospective suppliers, monitoring their performance and providing improvement recommendations.
    • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

    Required Skills & Abilities:
    • Requires the ability to understand and adhere to all laws pertaining to procurement, contracts, breach by contract, etc.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Understanding of AS9100D & ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems
    • Preferably strong experience in the following databases: Haystack/Fedlog/DIBBS system.
    • Ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks on a timely basis.
    • Ability to maintain flexibility and be adaptable to ever-changing company needs.

    Education & Experience:
    • Requires an associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in purchasing of aircraft components, consumables, aviation ground support equipment.
    • Preferably 3+ years’ experience in preparation of RFQ/RFPs, negotiation, follow-up and control of commercial proposals.
    • Experience in Commercial Aviation material planning / purchasing is a plus (experience with FAA 8130, airworthiness release, certificates of conformance, etc.)
