    Job Description

    JOB TITLE: Project Engineer

    COMPANY: Aisin Technical Center of America

    DEPARTMENT: Body - Door

    LOCATION: Northville, MI (Hybrid)

     

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Project Engineer is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:

    • Implement application design by adapting Aisin's global designs to meet customer requirements.
    • Review and issue internal drawings and customer drawings
    • Develop evaluation plans and coordinate implementation.
    • Analyze and interpret test results, take countermeasures as needed.
    • Create and submit test reports to customers and Aisin departments as necessary.
    • Develop and coordinate product specifications based on internal and customer review.
    • Modify product specifications in accordance with product test results, vehicle test results, etc.
    • Investigate technical trends, market trends, product trends, governmental regulations, etc.
    • Coordinate engineering promotional activities and prepare necessary material (presentation materials, samples, test vehicles, etc.)
    • Work with the sales department to develop sales strategies and prepare price quotes.
    • Benchmark assigned products.
    • Develop product specifications based on customer requirements, related parts specifications and Aisin's design policy.

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • At least 2 years of relevant product design and development experience (Automotive preferred).
    • CAD experience, Catia v5 preferred.
    • Ability to work well with a team and individually.
    • Possess strong customer service and written abilities.

    EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering discipline.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

    • Must be able to operate a personal computer, telephone and other office equipment.
    • Must perform job duties onsite, except those duties that are customarily or by their nature performed offsite (for example, offsite customer visits).
    • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where constructive criticism is encouraged.
    • Must be able to work on multiple assignments at once, and complete assignments within deadline and budget (if applicable) with satisfactory quality.
    • Must be able to operate as an effective team member.
    • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all company safety policies.

    ATTENDANCE/WORK HOUR REQUIREMENTS

    • Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.
    • Must be willing and available to work such weekends and holidays as necessary and desirable to meet business needs.
