    This position is located in our STV Birmingham Clinic location

    **Scope: **

    The primary purpose of the New Patient Coordinator position is to connect with new patients and referring physicians to coordinate to the appointments with the practice. This position is responsible for the new patient process beginning with initial patient contact to the patient arriving for the initial visit.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Answer a high volume of calls in a timely manner and complete new patient referrals according to department standards.
    • Accurately enter data given for callers or referring offices into practice management and EMR systems.
    • Distribute information to the appropriate person or department in a timely manner to include departmental contacts and physicians.
    • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
    • Schedule and confirm patient appointments. · Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate staff. · Receive and route messages and documents as needed.
    • Perform reminder and no-show calls.
    • Operate office equipment such as multi-line phone system and use word processing, spreadsheets, and other software applications as needed to do work assigned.
    • Perform various clerical and administrative functions as needed.
    • Assist telephone operators with incoming calls as needed.
    • Transmit information or documents as needed, using computer, mail, or fax machine

    Additional Skills and Abilities:

    • Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent telephone etiquette skills.
    • Organized and detail oriented.
    • Must be able to prioritize phone calls and multitask.
    • Efficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel
    • Must be able to work well under pressure.
    • Must be professional, polite, and friendly.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Minimum 1-2 years of medical business office experience with insurance procedures and patient interaction.
