    Assistant Afterschool Leader Alameda Arts' afterschool programs are an exciting mix of free play and arts enrichment. We are seeking dynamic and enthusiastic people to help further our mission to inspire and support the inherent creativity of every child through caring relationships and access to rich and varied mediums and activities. A love for children, an appreciation of their potential and a caring demeanor are all musts! You'll play indoor & outdoor games, provide light academic support, read books aloud, help in the art room - going wherever needed. We are looking for people who enjoy sharing their talents and knowledge and who are deeply committed to providing positive outcomes for all children. Working with Alameda Arts, you can have the opportunity to share your love of art by designing and implementing your own projects to supplement those we provide, help curate student art exhibitions and inspire those WOW! moments that can impact young lives. Schedule: 5 afternoons a week, Monday-Friday, when school is in session from August to June. There is also a potential for holiday break day camps for those who are interested. Location: All campuses are in the East Bay, specifically the island city of Alameda. Job Requirements: * Support the Site Director and report significant happenings during the day. * Supervise, encourage and support children during indoor and outdoor activities. * Provide occasional light academic support. * Arrive each day with a joyful and happy heart. * Playfully interact and engage with the children. * Be ready to handle urgent situations as they may arise. * Help redirect children to promote positive outcomes. * Adhere to the mission and core values of Alameda Arts. * Pass LiveScan fingerprinting (background check), provide a negative TB test and be FULLY Covid-19 vaccinated by September 1, 2021. * A high school diploma or GED is required. Early childhood and/or art education units are a plus. The Ideal Candidate * Can cultivate and maintain a positive environment using positive behavior support principles. * Is willing to adapt and be flexible. * Has a sense of humor. *Is committed to building strong communities. * Is a caring person who holds space in their heart for all children, even the challenging ones. * Is able to communicate with K-5 students and provide clear and positive instructions. * Can lead a group activity without supervision.
