Job Description

Pharmacy technicians assist the pharmacist in the preparation and distribution of medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient and pharmacy records in a manner consistent with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as pharmacy policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, and in accordance with State and Federal Laws, fills prescriptions for and assists with daily fills as directed.
2. Effectively operates the Pharmacy computer system to ensure timely and accurate prescription documentation and billing.
3. Orders supplies and prescription medications under the direction of the Pharmacist.
4. Maintains pharmacy Pyxis system, restocks outdates, restocks meds on a daily basis.
5. Understands Facility and Third-party billing guidelines.
6. Compliant with infection control procedures and environmental safety protocol within a Long-Term Care (LTC) facility.
7. Travels between facilities efficiently during scheduled hours as assigned. Makes emergency deliveries as necessary.
8. Works varying shifts on a standard rotating schedule, including weekends.
9. Advises the Pharmacy Manager of any potential or actual problem that may jeopardize Albright Care Services.

Qualifications

1. Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy experience.
2. Completion of a nationally and/or state recognized Pharmacy Technician Certification program required.
3. Prior experience as a pharmacy technician/data entry technician with good working knowledge of reviewing and entering prescription orders preferred.
4. Proficient computer skills necessary for data entry, reporting, including documentation and billing. An ideal candidate would have experience with PrimeCare/QS1 Pharmacy operations system and have some exposure to Pharmacy Automation (ie. TCGRx)
5. Must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
