  • Responsibilities

    The Family Office Controller will oversee the financial operations of the Family Office sector, tasked with the administration of intricate financial frameworks including trusts, partnerships, and various investment entities. This role involves generating financial reports and analyses for principal stakeholders. The Controller will directly communicate with the Chief Investment Officer and managing members, facilitating the efficient functioning of the Family Office. This is a full-time role situated within a close-knit single-family office located in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversight of Family Office assets, including real estate, marine and aerial vehicles, and investment portfolios
    • Administration of bill payments for family members and managed assets
    • Compilation of financial statements and reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for both family and external entities like auditors and tax officials, covering personal and business assets
    • Active management and understanding of family investments, including liaison with external Investment Managers, summarization of investment reports for the family, and provision of investment advice as needed
    • Monitoring and documentation of investments and related income, alongside the reconciliation of investment activities and the preparation of performance reports
    • Administration of daily financial and accounting operations within the Family Office, ensuring precise transaction recording and reporting
    • Execution of general accounting tasks, such as handling accounts payable and receivable, along with bank reconciliations
    • Management of monthly and annual financial closing procedures
    • Maintenance of financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant regulations
    • Coordination with external investment managers and service providers for the accurate and timely delivery of financial information
    • Collaboration with tax preparers and financial advisors to meet tax filing and regulatory standards
    • Central role in managing the family's financial software platform
    • Additional responsibilities as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Previous experience in a Controller or Asset Manager role
    • Over 7 years of experience in public or private accounting
    • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
    • CPA certification is mandatory
    • Preferred background in Real Estate and Family Office management
    • Capability to work autonomously and meet deadlines efficiently
    • Proficient in handling sensitive information with discretion
    • Technological proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office applications
