JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Charge Poster in a medical setting is responsible for ensuring timely billing. A Charge Poster ensures all the medical services provided to the patients are charged completely and the records are maintained.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluating billing/factsheets, outpatient cards, and/or various hospital or procedure records to confirm charges to be billed in a timely fashion.
- Collaborate with physicians regarding records and/or charges.
- Verify and enter all demographic and insurance information in patient registration of the EMR software system at the time of charge entry to ensure accuracy, provide feedback to patient and/or supervisor to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Adhere to all practice policies related to HIPAA and Medicare Compliance.
- Proficiency with all facets of the EMR software system including patient registration, charge entry, insurance processing, advanced collections, reports, and ledger inquiry.
- Review claims in unbilled claims to make sure all claims were scrubbed and processed, and no claims need reviewed prior to sending to insurance payer.
- Sending claims to insurance carrier by electronic through EMR or manual paper claims.
- Review all charges to ensure posting accuracy.
- Capability in working in a high production environment.
- Strong knowledge in CPT codes, ICD 10 codes, modifiers, and other general healthcare terminology.
- Answer calls from Billing Que to review patients account or give benefits for procedures or upcoming appointments when needed.
- Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
- Meet department productivity standards.
