- Our client, a top Injection Molding supplier within the Automotive Industry, is seeking a Project Engineer (internally titled Cost Estimator) to review RFQ’s, Engineering Documents & Technical Specifications and provide quotations & estimates of tooling & finished plastic parts.
- In this role, the Project Engineer will work cross functionally with Engineering, Sales, Finance & External Vendors to provide the most accurate & complete estimations.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze Customer RFQs to determine the scope of work & feasibility
- Work with Sales to clarify missing or unclear information
- Partner with Engineering Project Managers for support regarding technical reviews & feasibility
- Communicate with Suppliers & Vendors regarding costs & lead times
- Utilize quoting software to calculate pricing along with other project costs using internal models
- Make calculations to determine equipment size, tooling, labor, materials, etc
- Lead the transfer of quotes to Engineering & Purchasing
- Analyze cost impact of revisions to existing products
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred)
- 3+ years of experience estimating or managing the RFQ process
- Experience & knowledge of contract manufacturing and mechanical processes
- Experience with Injection Molding & project estimations
- Strong Analytical & Mathematical skills
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance
- Knowledge of DFM concepts
- Ability to read technical drawings to identify requirements and specifications
- Strong Written and Verbal Communication
Compensation for this role includes a base salary up to 85k/year. Our client also offers competitive health and life benefits & 401k. Relocation assistance may also be available.
