    Our client, a well-established steel manufacturing company, is currently seeking a Health and Safety Manager or Coordinator for their Birmingham, AL plant. Our client is a still growing organization that has been in the industry over 100 years with locations across the US.

    In this role, the Health and Safety Manager / Coordinator provides leadership and support to the facility in the area of Occupational Health and Safety reporting to the director of Corporate Health and Safety. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and direction of the Occupational Health and Safety Programs.

    Responsibilities will include facilitating safety training programs/coaching, job safety audits, inspections, and analysis to reduce hazards/risk, detailed documentation, reporting & follow-up on action items, timely Worker’s Compensation claims processing & Safe Return to Work initiatives and facilitating monthly union and management joint Health and Safety meetings.

    For this position, our client is looking for an assertive, decisive, action taker. An ideal candidate will offer:

    • Technical or bachelor’s degree
    • 2+ years’ experience in heavy manufacturing safety
    • Exceptional project management skills
    • Training program facilitation and management
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with all levels
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to maintain security and confidentiality of sensitive information
    • Experience using MS Office - Excel, PowerPoint, Word -generally tech savvy
    • Workers Compensation Claim’s Management & knowledge of OSHA is a plus
    • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule
    • Ability to bend, stoop, push/pull and lift 60lbs.

    Compensation for this role is up to $95K/year range, depending on candidate experience.
