    Junior Construction Estimator – Heavy Civil Construction - Base Salary to 90k/year – Bronx, NY

    • Our client is one of the largest privately held utility contractors in the New York Metropolitan area and has been in business for the past 25 years. They build public and private projects and are committed to excellence and innovation, while valuing the contributions of their employees.
    • Currently, they are seeking a Junior Construction Estimator to join their team in the Bronx, NY. The main responsibilities of the Junior Construction Estimator involves evaluating the scope of projects and developing a financial summary that stays within the budget and scheduled time frame required. The Junior Construction Estimator works closely with designers and engineers to create estimates and is involved in the day-to-day preparation of plan take-offs, weekly bid schedules and preparation of all price breakdowns for senior management approval.

    Responsibilities:

    • Participate in preparing work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
    • Interface daily with senior management to build estimates and seek new bid opportunities.
    • Complete estimates on time and in form for final review.
    • Ability to follow all project specifications and standards to secure estimate accuracy.
    • Ability to interface with all vendors and negotiate costs.
    • Attend any required site visits and meetings needed prior to bid submission.
    • Attend all management meetings to meet productivity.
    • Assist in meeting the goals of bid cost vs actual job cost and work with the team to meet job margins.
    • Maintain the estimating software and paper backup systems for management to review.
    • Verify that vendor and subcontractor estimates fall within the defined scope.
    • Create estimates for all necessary insurance considerations.
    • Maintain client confidentiality.

    Qualifications:

    • 3+ years’ experience estimating utility and infrastructure projects as a General Contractor.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred, but not required.
    • Familiarity with construction practices, costs, and procedures.
    • Experience with vendor management, procurement, and construction management.
    • Ability to work with B2W, HCSS, Excel and Microsoft Project software.
    • Expert knowledge working with both NYC municipalities and the private sector.
    • Experienced working with the DOT, MTA, and DDC on all different aspects of heavy civil construction such as utility/ concrete/ structural steel etc.

    Compensation:

    • Base salary in the 60k - 90k/year range
