Refrigeration Technician – National Supermarket Company – Base Salary to 38.00/hour – Indianapolis, IN

Responsibilities:

• Prioritize safety in all job aspects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Respond promptly to service requests, recognizing the time sensitivity in preventing product spoilage and customer impact.
• Conduct day-to-day and preventive maintenance of refrigeration units, air-conditioning, heating units and calibrate equipment for optimal efficiency.
• Thoroughly evaluates situations to identify the root cause of failures, recommending preventive measures.
• Perform necessary repairs to restore store equipment to operational status, specializing in troubleshooting and repairing various commercial HVAC & Refrigeration systems.
• Hold necessary certification for proper handling of refrigerants and expertise in using HVAC/R diagnostic equipment.
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, detect leaks, and conduct preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC systems, including components like self-contained refrigeration systems, open case and frozen food open display cases, grocery store cases, walk-in coolers/freezers, reach-in coolers/freezers, heat reclamation systems, compressors, receivers, condensers, evaporators, pumps, valves, copper tubing, pipes, including controls such as thermostats, automatic switches, fan controls, log switches, damper motors, bearings relays, filters, controls, belts, heat exchangers, pressure controls, safety valves, automatic gas valves, control panel programming etc.
• Performs electrical work and operate various hand and power tools, welder torch, vacuum pump, and test equipment used in the trade.
• Test joints and insulate pipes of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
• Ordering and tracking of HVACV/R parts, build internal inventory, while developing relationships with suppliers and vendors.
• Quality-check work to ensure all repairs were carried out correctly, thoroughly testing the refrigeration system for proper functionality.
• Travel to job sites in company van/truck with some overnight stays
• Help with day-to-day general maintenance needs of our client’s supermarkets.

Qualifications:

• HVAC/R: 3+ years experience (Preferred)
• Commercial Refrigeration: 2+ years (Preferred)
• EPA Universal (or EPA I & II) and/or CFESA certification (Preferred)
• Flexibility to work variable and flexible hours that may include evening or weekends
• Supermarket Refrigeration/Freezer HVAC experience is a big plus
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Technical training in Refrigeration/HVAC systems
• Ability to obtain additional licenses and certifications as needed
