Architectural Drafter - Architectural Metals & Glass Fabrication - Base Salary to 75k/year - Middle Village, NY

• Founded in 1989, our client is a one-stop-shop and full-service provider of architectural metals and glass products. With experience in enclosures, ornamental metals, architectural specialties, mechanical components, and metal art they can fabricate and install in commercial buildings, stadiums, and airports across New York City. With their own in-house design, project management, and estimating teams – they are well-equipped for any challenging project!
• The Architectural Drafter is a crucial member of this local team in Middle Village, NY. The Architectural Drafter will be expected to work in the office full-time, 5 days/week. The Architectural Drafter must understand architectural drawings and structural drawings and will work in detailing and developing shop drawings for architectural metals and glass products.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare shop drawings and fabrication instructions according to construction drawings & specifications, implementing Company standards whenever possible to be most cost effective
• Prepare layout of approved jobs for fabrication, consisting of sketches, cutting lists & packing lists
• Communicate with Sales department on complex jobs to ensure that work required by project is included for in contract price
• Confer with customers for additional details and specifications
• Consistently follow schedules, meeting deadlines and delivery goals
• Use innovative/creative methods to produce final product
• Coordination of project details with the customer
• Share/transfer knowledge of product lines with other team members
• Communicate with the estimating and fabricating department to prioritize jobs and tasks, meeting the needs of external and internal customers
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of Architectural drafting/detailing experience
• Candidates should have experience performing field-measurements with the ability to read and understand a tape measure
• Graduate (Associates or Bachelor’s degree) in Architectural/Design Technology is highly preferred
• Ability to work with Architectural, Mechanical, and Structural drawings
• Experience using design software such as Rhino, AutoCAD, and Revit
• Knowledge of construction & meta/glass fabrication methods
• Advanced math skills – Ability to work in both metric and imperial

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 50k – 75k/year range
