  • Responsibilities

    We are seeking a project engineer (building technologist) to be responsible for utilizing technical knowledge, intellectual ability, and practical experience to produce forensic evaluation reports, building condition assessments, and construction documents.  Duties include performing leak testing, destructive and non-destructive testing, identifying construction defects, and gathering field information and technical data to support preparation of construction documents.  This position will be based out of Palo Alto, CA

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    -Perform forensic investigations including destructive testing, water testing, infrared thermography, nuclear moisture testing, conductance and capacitance based testing, x-ray analysis, photographic documentation, and similar condition assessment techniques in accordance with AAMA, ASTM, and other testing protocols.

    -Prepare forensic reports, field reports, letters, and construction documents utilizing forensic information and measurements gathered during building condition assessments.

    -Perform tasks such as calculations, take-off’s, gathering field information, obtaining measurements, etc, for the purpose of assembling construction documents, estimating, or verifying project information.

    -Support Design Consultants by performing research on equipment, materials, or manufactured systems for the purpose of meeting established design criteria for a given project.

    -Familiarize self with industry standards such as ASTM, AAMA, ASCE, or other guidelines, including those related to a project’s scope of work.

    -Learn the design phase tasks for schematic design, design development, and final construction documents.

    -Utilize BSD SpecLink, the ABB SpecLink library, and CSI MasterFormat, AutoCAD, the ABB CAD library and the application of ABB CAD standards to assist Design Consultants who are producing individual specifications, construction drawings and project manuals.

    -Assist Design Consultants who are producing construction drawings including preparation of plan views, sections, elevations, details, drawings notes and symbols, bid packages, and related supplemental drawings.

    -Assist Design Consultants with preparing architects supplemental instructions, field directives, and similar documents.

    -Assist Project Managers with assembly and distribution of bid packages, bid coordination, and the preparation of Addenda to address or clarify the scope of work during the bidding phase of a project.

    -Assist Project Managers with preparing AIA format Owner-Contractor agreements, change orders, budgets, RFI’s, and other necessary project management tasks common to the industry.

    -Assist in preparing project correspondence including letters, findings reports, checklists, and similar project reporting documents.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    -Typically requires a Bachelors degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a similarly related field from an accredited university.

    -Previous construction experience preferred (preferably with an architecture or engineering firm).

    -Ability to prepare written documentation such as letters and reports on a professional level.

    -Knowledge of AutoCAD extremely helpful for this position.

    -Basic computer skills such as knowledge of Windows, MS Word, etc.

    -Commitment to seek and obtain one or more credentials such as CDT, RRO, EIFS Inspector, etc.
