ABOUT THE ROLE
Allara is looking for a Medical Billing Specialist to join the team and play a critical role in helping to fulfill our mission of building a better women's healthcare experience. As Allara's first Medical Billing Specialist, you will be owning daily functions of clinical and financial operations, while laying the groundwork for how the Medical Billing team will grow.
As a Medical Billing Specialist you will:
- Play a critical role in clinical and financial operations, as a team player
- Handle patient refunds, subscription cancellations and invoicing requests
- Navigate real-time eligibility processes and internal audit controls
- Interface with clients, as well as the following internal teams: Clinical, Concierge, Operations, Product
- Oversee health plan claim activity within vendor-owned systems
- This includes but is not limited to assisting with claim life cycle tasks and assisting with Electronic Data Interchange implementations
- Most importantly, the Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for subject matter feedback to assist with Medical Billing support
- This includes, but is not limited to, Real-Time Eligibility, Electronic Remittance Advice, Clinical Coding, Clinical Operations, and other Claim-related fields
- Serves as a point of contact for our Claims submission partner
- This includes, but is not limited to, a review of rejections, incomplete claims, claim edits, fee schedules, denials, and/or appeals when necessary
- Assists with external Health Plan correspondence related to nonstandard claim information requests
- This includes, but is not limited to, investigation and routing of patient billing in a timely manner, providing an excellent support experience by meeting all applicable metrics and goals, and triaging customer requests while adhering to protocols and HIPAA guidelines
- Communicates and contributes to ongoing medical billing assigned initiatives; uses sound judgment in assessing project health, identifying, mitigating, and resolving any project issues
- Manages patient billing and accounts receivable and provides superior customer support for patients with billing questions
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience working within a Medical Billing-related field
- Exceptional communication, both customer-facing and with internal teams
- Works collaboratively and is solutions oriented
- Can navigate ambiguity and establish processes
- Retains impeccable attention to detail and remains process-driven while operating with a sense of urgency
- Proven ability to execute Medical Billing skillset effectively, as a way of combating visit revenue loss, and improving compliance
- Experience working with GSuite products, Stripe, electronic medical records (EMR) and clearinghouses
- Empathy for patients and commitment to work with discretion as you would be working with sensitive data
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
- 100% remote and can be done anywhere (though the company is based in NYC)
- This is a part-time and hourly role to start (20 hours per week), with the opportunity to potentially convert to a full-time role in the future
